750 Reef Domes
Reef domes, a Nature based Solution, enhance fish stocks, bolster marine biodiversity, and help protect shores. Various organizations joined hands in making and deploying 750 reef domes for the Expanded Bantayan Marine Reserve.
Fish find the reef balls attractive compared to the bare sand: the holes provide protection for fish and help with water flowing around the reefs. The solution can be used to restore existing reefs, or create new humanmade reefs.
The reef domes can also help to dampen the effects of waves approaching shorelines, as well as erosion control, ultimately helping with climate change mitigation and adaptation.
